1. The Meta in Short
EB05 isn't on shelves until October 30, but online the format already moved. From October 19 the big Western events switched to OP17 + EB05, and this issue covers that first week: October 19 to 25, 2026. That's four online events and 278 players, all between October 19 and 22: after the 22nd, no EB05 event of the week published its lists. It's one week of a brand new format, so everything here is a first read, not a settled ranking. Extra Grand Battle events are left out, as in issue #4. If you're playing an OP17 event before the release, issue #4 is still your report.
- Rocks is the deck of the first EB05 week. Rocks took 17.1% of the seats, won 58.7% of its games and 5 of the 21 top cuts, more than any other leader. It's the only S on the list. It got there without the new set: 3 of its 25 lists run an EB05 card.
- Black Luffy left the room. Black Luffy, the deck that beat Rocks 69% of the time in OP17, went from 11.8% of the seats to 2.5%. That's a big part of the Rocks story.
- RG Luffy & Ace drops to A. RG Luffy & Ace went from 17.3% of the seats to 7.8%, broke even and made no top cuts. S in the last four issues, A on this week.
- Blue Buggy is the first EB05 winner. Blue Buggy came from almost nowhere to 8.2% of the field on four copies of Alvida, and won 54.5%. A hair under the S line.
- Sabo rebuilt, and lost. Sabo put Ripley in 11 of its 12 lists and became the second most played deck, but won 45.8%. The new leader, GY Robin, came in at 3.1%.
