Red Law: EB05 Deck Guide (First Look)

First look at Red Law with EB05's Jewelry Bonney: how the base power swap really works, who can and can't take part, the Bonney list I'm playing, defending with the 9-cost Law, a lethal count into GY Robin and seven early matchup reads. Updated as the meta settles.

1. Introduction

Red Law has been the deck everyone liked and nobody played. The leader is one of the most interesting in the game: once a turn it swaps the base power of two of your characters, so a 1-cost body that cost you nothing can swing like your 9-drop. The problem was never the idea. It was that red can't draw cards, so the deck ran out of bodies to swap by turn five, and a 6000 leader in green made sure it never got that far.

The second problem is gone, and EB05 fixes the first one. Law now has a 5-cost that draws two and refills the board in the same turn, and that one card turns a deck that used to fold to a single removal turn into one that rebuilds itself every turn and still hits for 10000 twice.

The way it plays is simple to describe and hard to play well. You flood the board with cheap Supernovas, land one big body, and let every cheap body take a turn being the big one. Your opponent has to deal with a board where every character threatens 7000 or 10000 and none of them cost you more than a couple of DON!!. Kill the small ones and you replace them for free. Leave them and they swing big. And when they swing back, your leader can borrow the same power on defence.

It's also a deck that rewards counting more than most. The swap only lasts one turn, the power checks read base power in some places and current power in others, and the order you attack in decides how many of your attacks your opponent can actually stop. Get those right and the deck plays itself. Get them wrong and you've built a board of 0-power Luffys.
