Meta Report #2: Rocks Takes the Field, Black Luffy Takes Rocks

Online players dropped Mihawk a week before the ban: Rocks jumped to one seat in five, Black Luffy made it pay, and RG Luffy & Ace stayed S tier. Covers September 6 to October 3, 2026.

1. The Meta in Short

This issue covers the last four full weeks of OP17 in the West, from September 6 to October 3, 2026. Mihawk's ban only kicks in on October 12, but online the field didn't wait: in the week of September 27 Mihawk almost disappeared from the online events we track, so that week is our first real look at the format after the ban. The four-week numbers still have Mihawk in them, and that's why the tier list and last week's form disagree in a few places.

  • The ban came early online. Mihawk went from 14% of the seats to 1% in a single week. Rocks took the space, from 7% to 20%: one seat in five, by far the most played deck of the week.
  • Black Luffy made Rocks pay. Our ban special called Rocks the deck to beat and Black Luffy its answer. The first half came true, and so did the second: Black Luffy beat Rocks 80% of the time last week, won 55% overall and is S tier on that week alone. That's why Rocks lands in A, not the S we predicted.
  • RG Luffy & Ace is still S. The best win rate of any ranked leader over the four weeks, and 56% last week. The ban didn't touch it, as expected.
  • Mihawk is still S on the four weeks. Where it's still legal it still places: almost one placed deck in five last week. This is the last report where its games count.
  • Robin drops to B. It lost its best matchup with Mihawk gone, won 45% last week and its play rate halved. The ban special had it in A.
