Green Mihawk: OP17 Deck Guide

The deck to beat, and the reason is a ten-DON!! turn with almost no counterplay. Both halves of the leader ability including the wording most people read wrong, the combo in the exact order it has to be played, which of your removal reads base numbers, and ten matchups including the three that beat it.

1. Introduction

Mihawk has been a good leader since OP14. What changed in OP17 is that he got a ten-DON!! turn with almost no counterplay, and a searcher package deep enough that he reaches it every game.

The deck is often called Fish-Hawk, and the name is the giveaway: the engine is a two-card interaction between a 10-cost Shanks that rests your opponent's entire board and a 2-cost Fish-Man that kills any rested Character for free. Everything before turn ten is spent drawing cards, building a wide board and making sure your opponent can't kill you first.

There's a second, quieter reason this leader is where it is. Read the leader's first line: if your opponent's leader has the <Slash> attribute, you're a 6000 leader with five life. Against Rocks D. Xebec, Green Shanks and the mirror that's a wall their leader can never attack into profitably, and it costs you nothing.
